Waiting for Fred to move his stuff out so I can move mine in.
Waiting for my score on the clinical skills exam.
Feeling guilty because I haven't been home to see my family in a month.
Missing Gary, Missy, and he who must not be named.
Wondering why my check from Borders seems so small.

A Few Things

1.) There's a good article about Rivers Cuomo at Harvard in this month's Spin. He has that whole tortured artist/genius thing going on. I guess he doesn't fit in all that well with the prep school kids. Maybe it's because he's 35, and had other stuff going on at ages 18-21. Dunno.

2.) The priest who allegedly killed a nun by stabbing her 22 times in the shape of an inverted cross on her chest is featured in People Magazine this week. Way to put Toledo on the map. First the riots, now this?!

3.) Rolling Stone's issue this month is about their famous magazine covers, and there are some interesting tidbits about John Lennon's famous Annie Leibovitz cover. I personally like the one of Nirvana, "Corporate Rock Magazines Still Suck."



4.) I have to write 5 papers by Thursday.

5.) and move out of my apartment by next Tuesday.

Irresponsible and bleary-eyed.

I was lying in my bed today, at about 2:30 in the afternoon. I was thinking about how nice it was to be in my bed, and how nice it was that it was my day off. Then, Borders called to ask me if I was planning to work my 2-11 shift that I was scheduled for.

Fuck.

I dragged myself out of bed, threw on some clothes that were on the floor of my bedroom, brushed my teeth, and ran out the door. On my way to work I was asking myself when I'm going to be more responsible. I do this shit from time to time. I oversleep. I drop the ball. I wish I knew what my problem is. I swear there are people who are never ever late, and manage to be cooly controlled at all times. What's the secret? I swear I need to get a grip. How would you feel if your surgeon forgot to come to work on the day of your surgery?!

If I had to guess, I would say that my main problem is senioritis and laziness. I wouldn't say that my part-time job is a challenge. It's pretty mindless, to tell you the truth. Maybe that's it. I can't imagine not being on top of my game when residency starts, but right now, I'm mired down in the muck of my apathy about life. I keep seeing one of the interns from my program at Borders. He keeps telling me that I need to read Surgical Recall and Advanced Surgical Recall before I start. That's about 600 pages of surgery factoids. I could do it, and I'm sure I will when the terror of starting strikes me. I'm not all that scared right now. 1:48 AM
